“I would like to congratulate ORYX GTL for being the first oil & gas company in the Middle East to achieve BS 25999:2007 certification from BSI, and I would also like to commend them for their exemplary efforts to make their information security management system fully aligned with international benchmarks,” said H.E. Dr. Al-Sada.
ORYX GTL’s management, recognizing the vital importance of information security for the management of confidential data as well as to protect the integrity of its information assets and communication platforms to maintain business continuity, has undergone a process to meet the requirements of the recognized international benchmarks for Information Security Management System and Business Continuity Management System.
“Continued operations in the event of a business disruption, whether due to a major disaster or a minor incident, are a fundamental requirement for any organization as well as the security of its information from theft, loss or corruption. ORYX GTL has strived once again to achieve new certifications to ensure these risks are mitigated by international best practices,” said Theuns Kotze of BSI.
Conforming to the highest standards is integral to the business philosophy of ORYX GTL, which is a joint venture of Qatar Petroleum and Sasol. Consistent with its commitment to operational excellence, the company has developed an Integrated Management System (IMS) that has enabled it to be the first company in the Middle East to be certified to four management standards right on its first year of operation in 2006. ORYX GTL has achieved integrated certification to world-class management systems including ISO 9001:2000 (Quality Management), ISO14001:2004 (Environmental Management); OHSAS 18001:2007 (Occupational Health and Safety Management), and PAS 99:2006 (Requirements for Integration of Management).
ORYX GTL has also been awarded with ISO IEC 17025:2005 for the company’s laboratory critical activities. It was accredited by the Dutch Accreditation Council, which is considered one of the top global regulatory entities.
The latest certifications are aligned with ORYX GTL’s aim to be a leading Qatari company through the implementation of world-class business processes, thereby continuously improving and enhancing its business activities in a zero harm manner in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030.
